Morocco Itinerary 10 Days
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
Your 10 Day Morocco Itinerary kicks off with pickup from the airport or your Casablanca accommodation. Known as Morocco’s largest city and its economic hub, Casablanca offers plenty to explore. We’ll visit the Hassan II Mosque, the biggest mosque in Morocco, perched on the coast with views of the Atlantic Ocean. After some free time for lunch, we’ll continue to explore the city, including a stop at the beautiful Corniche area. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we’ll drive along the coast to Rabat, Morocco’s capital and an imperial city. Visit the Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Kasbah of Oudayas. Enjoy free time for lunch. Then, we continue north through Ouazzane to reach Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. Known as the “Blue City,” its white and blue-painted alleys are stunning. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
Start the day by exploring the charming blue streets of Chefchaouen. Next, head to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with ancient mosaics, arches, and pillars. Afterward, drive 30 km to Meknes, an imperial city and the Ismaili capital. Visit Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the granary, and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Later, head to Fes for an overnight stay at a traditional riad.
Day 4: Fes Guided Tour
After breakfast, explore Fes with a local guide. Fes is a cultural and religious hub and an imperial city. Start with the Royal Palace gate, then visit the UNESCO-listed medieval Medina. See Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), Bouanania Madrasa, the Najjarine fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouine Mosque and University—the oldest in the world. Visit the Mellah, the Jewish Quarter, and later, enjoy panoramic views of the city from an ancient fortress. Return to your riad.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
After breakfast, drive south to Ifrane, known for its snow, cool weather, and alpine-style architecture. Stop at the Cedars Forest to see and feed Barbary macaques. Continue to Midelt for lunch, then drive through the Ziz Valley and Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass, stopping for views along the way. Arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll ride camels into the Sahara Desert. Pause atop a dune to watch the sunset before heading to a desert camp. Enjoy Berber drum music, dancing by the fire, and stargazing. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 6: Merzouga Region Exploration
Start early to catch the desert sunrise. After breakfast, return to Merzouga on camels or a 4×4 (or opt for ATVs at an extra cost). Spend the day exploring the Merzouga area with its dunes, desert lakes, fossil sites, and oases. Visit an old eyeliner mine, then meet local nomads in their tents and enjoy Berber tea. Next, stop at Khamlia Village for Gnaoua music and dance, performed by descendants of sub-Saharan Africans. After lunch, take a walk through palm groves, a modern desert oasis. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.
7th day: Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, we’ll leave the desert and head to Rissani, the historic capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important trading hub, with its bustling market active on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After exploring the Rissani souk, we’ll continue to Erfoud to visit a fossilized marble workshop. From there, we’ll pass through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the stunning Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved an impressive canyon, a favorite spot for rock climbers. Take time to walk through the gorges and enjoy the scenery. Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
Next, we’ll drive to Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. We’ll stop at the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations and a viewpoint overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel.
8th day: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura Palm Groves – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll travel to Kalaa Magouna to visit the Rose Valley, known for its annual Rose Festival in May. Locals sell various rose-based products here.
We’ll then drive through the Skoura palm groves and continue to Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the desert. Here, we’ll visit movie studios where several famous films were shot.
Next, we’ll visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been featured in movies like Gladiator and TV shows like Game of Thrones.
From there, we’ll head to Marrakech, driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch and enjoy scenic viewpoints. Overnight stay will be at a riad in Marrakech.
9th day: Sightseeing in Marrakech
After breakfast, a local guide will show us the highlights of Marrakech, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Key stops will include the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque. We’ll explore Morocco’s largest traditional souk and have free time for lunch near Jemaa El-Fna Square.
Later, we’ll visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest in Marrakech, and the Majorelle Garden. Afterward, we’ll transfer you back to your accommodation. You’ll have the evening free to explore Jemaa El-Fna on your own.
10th day: Marrakech – Casablanca
On the final day, we’ll take a quick tour around Marrakech before heading north to Casablanca. We’ll make stops to enjoy panoramic views along the way. Finally, we’ll transfer you to the airport. The 10 Day Morocco Itinerary concludes here.
