7 Days In Morocco
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
We’ll pick you up early from the airport, port, or your accommodation in Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city and economic hub. The day begins with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, Morocco’s biggest mosque, located on the city’s west coast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After some free time for lunch, we’ll explore the city and visit the scenic Corniche area. The first night will be spent at a hotel.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we’ll drive along the coastline to Rabat, Morocco’s current capital and one of its imperial cities. Highlights of the visit include the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudayas. After lunch, we’ll head north through Ouazzane to reach Chefchaouen, a stunning mountain town known for its blue-painted buildings and streets. Overnight stay at a hotel in Chefchaouen.
Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
Start the morning wandering Chefchaouen’s beautiful blue streets. Later, we’ll head to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with mosaics, pillars, and archways. After exploring Volubilis, we’ll drive 30 km to Meknes, known as the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Highlights include Bab Al-Mansour, the Royal Stables, Sahrij Souani, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. From Meknes, we’ll continue to Fes, where you’ll stay overnight in a riad.
Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes
Spend the day exploring Fes with a local guide. This imperial city is Morocco’s cultural and religious hub. We’ll start with the Royal Palace gate, then visit the well-preserved UNESCO-listed medieval Medina. Enter through the iconic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud) and explore its maze-like streets to see Bouanania Madrasa, the Najjarine Fountain, the famous Tanneries, and the University of Al Quaraouin, the world’s oldest university. Outside the Medina, we’ll visit the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) and an ancient fortress offering panoramic views of Fes. Return to your riad for the night.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
After breakfast, we’ll drive south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, often called Morocco’s “Switzerland” for its cool climate and alpine-style architecture. Next, we’ll visit the Cedars Forest, home to Barbary macaques, where you can feed the monkeys. From there, we’ll continue to Midelt for lunch before heading to Merzouga, passing through the scenic Ziz Valley and Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass. By afternoon, you’ll arrive in the Sahara Desert and take a camel ride, across the dunes, stopping to watch the sunset. End the day at a desert camp, blending traditional nomad tents and modern comforts. Enjoy a night of Berber music by the fire under the stars. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 6: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Wake up early to catch the stunning desert sunrise. After breakfast, take the camels back to Merzouga, where your driver awaits. We’ll visit Rissani, once the Tafilalet region’s capital, known for its lively souk held three days a week. Next, we’ll stop in Erfoud to see a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. The journey continues through Touroug and Tinjdad’s palm groves to the Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon with towering red cliffs, popular among rock climbers. Take some time to explore the area and have lunch. Finally, we’ll drive to the Dades Valley, passing Boumalne Dades and stopping at unique rock formations like the “Monkey Fingers.” Dinner and overnight at a hotel in the valley.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura – Ait Ben Haddou – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Our last day takes us to Kalaat M’Gouna’s Rose Valley, known for its annual rose festival in May and local rose products. Next, we’ll pass Skoura’s palm groves and reach Ouarzazate to visit the film studios where famous movies were shot. Then, we’ll explore the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a picturesque fortified village seen in films like Gladiator and TV shows like Game of Thrones. From there, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, stopping for photos and a meal along the way. By evening, we’ll arrive in Marrakech and drop you off at your accommodation or the airport, marking the end of the Morocco Itinerary One Week,
