4 Days Tour From Marrakech To Merzouga
Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Gorges
Your 4-day desert tour starts with a pick-up right from your accommodation in Marrakech. From there, we travel through the High Atlas Mountains along the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. During the drive, your guide and driver will pause at scenic spots, and you can ask to stop whenever you like.
We’ll enjoy lunch in either Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate before heading toward Dades Gorges. Along the way, we pass through Skoura and the Rose Valley. In Skoura’s green oasis, you can visit the Amridil Kasbah, a standout example of Morocco’s fortified villages. If you’re visiting in spring, we’ll stop to see the valley covered in blooming roses, a truly stunning sight.
At Dades Gorges, you’ll see the impressive rock formations known as “monkey fingers” and enjoy wide views of the gorge. The day ends with dinner and a night at your hotel to relax and rest.

Your first stop is the Todra Gorge in Tinghir, one of the most impressive canyons you’ll see. After exploring the gorge, continue your journey toward the Merzouga desert.
Before you reach the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, your driver/guide may suggest a stop at a local Berber shop. Here, you can take free photos while wearing traditional Berber clothing. If you like, you can purchase scarves perfect for the desert or some unique souvenirs. Buying is entirely optional; the shop mainly offers a chance to experience Berber culture. Just let your guide know if you’d prefer to skip this stop.
When you arrive in Merzouga, get ready for a camel ride into the desert to watch the sun set over the dunes. You can also try sandboarding on the sandy slopes. Afterward, spend the night in a comfortable desert camp where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and experience the quiet beauty of the Sahara under the stars.

Day 3: Explore Merzouga Desert
If you wake up early, you’ll be treated to a stunning sunrise. You can watch the sky change colors from the closest dune near your camp. After enjoying a tasty breakfast back at camp, you can choose how to return to Merzouga—either by riding a camel or taking a comfortable 4×4 vehicle.
Not far from the town is the village of Khamliya, famous for its lively Gnawa music. Here, you can take a moment to listen to this unique Moroccan sound. Next, you’ll head to Rissani, an old city known as the birthplace of Morocco’s current ruling family and an important stop on historic caravan routes. If your visit falls on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, you’ll get the chance to explore Rissani’s traditional market.
From there, the trip continues along the scenic Draa Valley toward Agdez, a place known for its charming views. The road then leads to Ouarzazate, where you’ll arrive in the afternoon and check in to your hotel.

Day 4: Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah ⇢ Telouet Kasbah ⇢ Marrakech
After a hearty breakfast, we start the day by exploring Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of Africa and known as a main gateway to the Sahara Desert. The city is home to Atlas Studios, the largest film studio in Africa, and the historic Taourirt Kasbah.
Next, we head to the striking Ait Ben Haddou, where we’ll visit the ancient kasbah protected by UNESCO since 1987. This well-preserved fortress has appeared in many famous movies and TV shows like Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones.
Once we’ve taken in Ait Ben Haddou, we continue toward Marrakech through the stunning Atlas Mountains. The drive offers beautiful views of charming Berber villages scattered across the hills. Along the way, we’ll stop to admire the impressive Telouet Kasbah.
